Terms of use and safety

The Jumeirah Golf Estates Halloween Trail is a free map made for neighbours by The Buzz People Marketing, Dubai (“we”, “us”). By opening the site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please close the site.

1. What this site is

1.1The site helps residents of Jumeirah Golf Estates find the villas taking part in Halloween on Saturday 31 October 2026 and plan a walk between them. It is free.

1.2It is a community project. Jumeirah Golf Estates, its developer, the community management, the owners’ association and any government authority have not approved it, run it or checked it, and we are not connected to them.

1.3We do not organise, host, supervise or insure the trick-or-treating. Residents arrange it among themselves. We only provide the map.

2. Who may use it

2.1The site is meant for adults. Children may look at it only together with a parent or guardian.

2.2A parent or guardian who lets a child use the site, or take part in the walk, accepts these terms for that child and is responsible for the child’s conduct and safety.

2.3Use the site lawfully and politely. Do not copy it in bulk, interfere with it, or send false or misleading information.

3. Children and safety

3.1Children must be with a parent, guardian or other responsible adult at all times: on the street, at crossings and at every door.

3.2The safety notes on the site, such as sticking to pavements, knocking only where the lights are on and taking only sealed sweets, are general guidance. They do not make the walk safe, and we do not supervise anyone.

3.3Anyone giving out sweets or anything else is solely responsible for it, including allergens, labelling, packaging and condition. Parents and guardians decide what their children may eat. We do not inspect homes, people or sweets.

3.4Do not enter anyone’s home. Respect a household that says no, and follow traffic rules, parking rules, security instructions and the community’s rules.

3.5In an emergency call 999 (police), 998 (ambulance) or 997 (fire).

4. Information and directions can be wrong

4.1The list of villas, the pins and the routes come from residents and from open map data. They can be wrong, out of date or incomplete. A listed villa may not be open, may have run out of sweets or may have changed its mind, and a villa that is not listed may be taking part.

4.2Routes, distances and walking times are estimates. Phone GPS inside the community can be out by tens of metres. “Walk here” and the route buttons open Google Maps, which is a separate service with its own terms. Use your own judgment on the ground, and do not follow a route into anything unsafe.

5. What you send us

5.1Ask to add or remove a villa, or set a pin, only for your own home, or for a home whose household has agreed.

5.2A pin shows the exact spot of a home to everyone who uses the site. By sending a villa or a pin you agree that its community, villa number and pin may be shown publicly on the site.

5.3We, or the organiser, may approve, decline, change, move or remove any villa, request or pin at any time, without giving a reason. To take your villa or pin off, use “Remove my villa” in the Join in tab, or message the organiser in the group. We will act as soon as we reasonably can, and we cannot promise a time.

5.4You are responsible for what you send. You give us permission to use it to run the site, and for nothing else.

6. Privacy

6.1We do not ask for names, phone numbers, email addresses or passwords, and the site sets no cookies.

6.2We keep the villa list, the requests (community and number) and the pins (a map position with a community and number). We also keep a scrambled, one-way code made from your network address, to limit repeated or abusive requests. It cannot be turned back into your address. It is kept for about a week for that purpose, and alongside a request while the request is on file.

6.3Your location is used only if you tap the locate button or “Use my location”, and your browser asks first. It stays on your phone to show your position and plan routes. When you use it to set a pin, the reading is sent to us once to check that you are standing near the villa, and we do not store it.

6.4Your browser remembers some things on your device: the houses you ticked, your route, requests you sent, your sound setting and, if you set a pin, a private key that lets that phone move or remove its pin. Clearing the site’s data removes them.

6.5Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, handles ordinary technical logs, such as network address and device type, to deliver the site and keep it secure. Links to Google Maps and WhatsApp leave this site and are covered by their own policies.

6.6We may delete the list, requests and pins soon after Saturday 31 October 2026. To ask about your data, or to have it removed sooner, message the organiser or contact us through thebuzzpeople.com. UAE data protection law applies.

7. No promises about the site

7.1The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without any promise that it is accurate, complete, uninterrupted or free of errors. We can change, pause or remove it, or anything on it, at any time.

8. Limits on our responsibility

8.1To the fullest extent UAE law allows, The Buzz People Marketing, its owners, staff and contractors, and the volunteers who help organise the event, are not liable for any injury, illness (including allergic reaction), accident, loss of or damage to property, theft, distress, or any other loss or harm connected with the site, the Halloween event, any home, person, sweets or route, or with information on the site being wrong, out of date or unavailable.

8.2We are not responsible for what residents, visitors or other users do, give or say. Disputes between neighbours, or with the community management, are for those people to settle.

8.3Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that UAE law does not allow to be excluded or limited. Where the law lets us limit but not exclude our liability, our total liability for all claims about the site is limited to AED 500.

8.4You use the site, and take part in the event, at your own risk.

9. Ownership and third parties

9.1Streets and community outlines come from OpenStreetMap contributors and are used under the Open Database Licence. The design, text, films and voice on the site belong to The Buzz People Marketing. You may use them only to view the site and share its link.

9.2Jumeirah Golf Estates and other names appear only to say where the event is. They belong to their owners and do not mean there is any connection with us.

10. Changes

10.1We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and using the site after a change means you accept it.

11. Law and courts

11.1These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai, and the courts of Dubai have jurisdiction over any dispute about them or the site.
